ABOUT THE AREA

"Puymouche" is located in the heart of the Creuse farming community. It is surrounded by fields, with a pretty stream nearby at the end of the small lane and wooded areas and lakes very close by. The small market town of Dun Le Palestel is 8 minutes drive away with pharmacies, doctors, dentists and a market on Thursdays. The house comes under the commune of Naillat, which is a small village with a school, Mairie and a boulangerie which can delivery bread and pastries to the house every day. It is only 4 km to the motorway network, giving you access to anywhere in France - and in the Creuse department there are no motorway tolls. La Souterraine is 15 minutes drive away; this is a historic medieval town with large church and some shops. There is a direct train from La Souterriane to Paris. Gueret is also 15 minutes away in the opposite direction. Gueret is the administrative centre for Creuse, so you will find all the principal amenities and governmental offices located here. There are beautiful lakes, hills and forest areas here too. This area is great for fishing, hiking, cycling, riding and watching wildlife and, generally, all out door activities. Creuse is renowned for its densely wooded landscapes and many lakes and rivers. There is lots to explore here! Creuse also has the lowest crime rates in France.

It is only 60 minutes to Limoges Airport. And just 2 hours away you can access skiing at Puy de Sancy in the winter months.

PRINCIPAL HOUSE

The house was constructed in 1780 and was originally a peasant's cottage. A local stone mason married the daughter of the cottage owner in 1850. In 1870 after the 2nd French revolution, he went to Paris with his 3 brothers and rebuilt the Hotel De Ville which was later burnt to the ground. The mason made his fortune, came back to La Creuse and built the house you see today.
