A traditional French farmhouse with great character and in a wonderful location; this imposing property was originally the heart of a large farm. The situation, the house and its outbuildings still reflect the property's original importance within the community. Built of stone and with many original features retained it is surrounded by vineyards and is about 3 kilometres from the beautiful town of Duras with its remarkable chateau.
The property is accessed via a driveway flanked by trees which are well over a hundred years old. This opens to a beautifully mature garden, or park, laid to grass and planted with mature trees and shrubs. There are also two spacious stone flagged terraces, facing east and south, with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The property is composed of several conjoined stone buildings; the restored farmhouse with a surface area of around 300m2, two large stone farm buildings totalling around 400m2 which are in good condition and could be renovated (STC as always) plus a detached open sided barn which is ideal for parking vehicles under cover.
The spacious interior of the house is a harmonious marriage of old stone features and modern comforts. There is a large country kitchen with modern appliances , a living room with traditional fireplace and wood burning stove, three large bedrooms with bathroom and WC and two dressing rooms. The house also has a large billiard rooms, a study, a traditional French "arriere cuisine" - or scullery - and a boiler room.
Tucked into the hillside on the edge of a small village and protected by a screen of very old oak trees, the setting is delightful and combines wonderful views, tranquility and the convenience of being so close to a very popular and pretty hilltop town.
